My name is Laura Martinez and this is my 15th year at School District 150.I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2015- 2016 school year.I am the social worker/parent liaison for the pre kindergarten and early childhood program at Greenwood School on Wednesdays and Thursdays and the social worker for McKinley School on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Providing direct intervention, crisis intervention, and support.
Linking students and families with school and community resources
Encouraging families to effectively participate in their child's education.This is often done through workshops, make and takes, and other events throughout the school year.
Collaborating with school personnel to assess student's social and emotional obstacles to academic success.
Meeting with families to understand and address obstacles to learning.
Presenting social work lessons to the children.
Topics include sharing, friendship, feelings, sexual abuse prevention and general child safety.
