It is my pleasure to be working with the students here at McKinley! This year we will explore multiple genres of music, learn how to play instruments, and even take trip to see music in action. This page will be used to communicate any upcoming events and keep the parents informed about the activities in our classroom.

Symphonic band

Tinley Convention Center Breakfast Concert

The McKinley Monarch Symphonic Band has been invited to play during the breakfast for the SCSDD annual convention. It will be held on Friday, January 29th at the Tinley Park Convention Center. Please be on the lookout for permission slips that are on the way home to be signed and returned.

On February 12th, Symphonic Band students will be traveling to see a performance of Romeo and Juliet by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In order to be in attendance, students must bring $15.00 to cover the cost of the ticket and the permission slip to reserve their seat. All monies are due by  Friday, January 22nd.

Concert band

Following a successful Christmas Concert, students in Concert Band are continuing their musical learning by working on the new selection "Adventure In India". Please encourage your child to practice daily and bring their instruments home. Our representative at Quinlan and Fabish Music Company stops by on Wednesday afternoon if you would like to purchase supplies and have them delivered to the school.

In the upcoming months of February and March, Concert Band students will be participating in the IGSMA district competition. More information will be sent out as the event approaches.
